Yesterday, Alexander Macgillivray, Twitter’s general counsel, wasted little time in speaking out against Google+ being fully baked into Google Search — even before Twitter officially did on the record. Today he’s elaborating a bit. Why doesn’t the ex-Google employee like Search+? This is why:
My thought is, if they’re trying to find WWE on Twitter, they’d search for WWE on Twitter. If you search for @WWE on Google, the Twitter result is the third result. I wonder if this is a result of Google downgrading the Twitter result, or if it’s an issue with the algorithm.
And, if we’re going to get our panties in a bunch, try searching for @WWE on Bing and see where the Twitter result surfaces. It isn’t even on page one. Suddenly, this doesn’t seem like a giant Google conspiracy anymore.
Edit: Search for WWE on the Twitter “@ Connect” and the first result is @WWETheBigShow, and the second result is @WWE. Twitter wants to bitch about search results not showing in the right order when they can’t even make it happen on their own site?
Yes but the Twitter profile is on the results, and in fact, it is higher on the results than it is for a Bing search....
